Problem

I love reading books and using various apps to track them. While using Goodreads, I noticed that the current design of Goodreads faces several challenges that affect the user experience. Mainly caused by an outdated and overwhelming interface

Solution

Redesign of Goodreads' current website to improve user experience and modernize the site's visual appeal

Signup / Log in (Before)

The problems I found in these screens are:

1) Too much empty space

2) Ability to sign in is at the very bottom

3) Feature of recovery password is usually located at the bottom of the input field

4) Opportunity to keep user signed in located too far away

Signup / Log in (After)

Things that I fixed are:

1) Add catchy image

2) Quick switch between sign in and creation account

3) Ability to continue with accounts

4) Opportunity to exit

Onboarding (Before)

The problems I found in these screens are:

1) Too much empty space

2) Lack of a process indicator

Onboarding (After)

Things that I fixed are:

1) Add progress indicator

2) Add button to skip step

3) Posibility to go back

4) Grid view to show users more books in one screen

Main page (Before)

The problems I found in these screens are:

1) Unclear icons that are repeated with navigation

2) Сonfusing buttons

3) Outdated design

Main page (After)

Things that I fixed are:

1) Improved navigation

2) New look of book’s card (reading progress buttons, user ratings, description)

3) Updated interface with improved ui and ux

Book details (Before)

The problems I found in these screens are:

1) Unclear structure of the book description

2) Outdated design

Book details (After)

Things that I fixed are:

1) Division of information about the book into tabs

2) Possibility to quickly switch among reading progress

3) Updated interface

Bookshelf (Before)

The problems I found in these screens are:

1) Useless buttons

2) Confused navigation

3) Hidden sorting button

Bookshelf (After)

Things that I fixed are:
